BREAKING: ISEC Lifts Ban On Campaign Activities, Says Candidates Should Use Social Media, Flyers, Banners, Others For Awareness
Following the recent inauguration of the newly elected Independent Students Electoral Commission (ISEC), the body has today lifted ban on campaigns activities for the forthcoming Students Union Government (SUG) election at Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY), Iree.
The official announcement was made known today 14th August, 2025 in an internal memorandum released from the office of the ISEC and signed by the ISEC Chairman, Soyinka Abraham; ISEC General Secretary, Salako Oluwatobiloba and ISEC Public Relations Officer, Bolarinwa Muminat.
The memo noted that the announcement marked the commencement of open campus, emphasizing that candidates should familiarize themselves with guidelines, timelines and protocols that would be released soon.
"The statement encourages and in support of the campaign should be through the use of social media, flyers, banners and other forms of awareness. Engaging in or promoting political activities, or unauthorized gatherings that may disturb academic atmosphere and lead to any form of fight or riot within the campus is prohibited," the memorandum said.
The statement then further added that any candidate who go against the rules and regulations stated in the memorandum maybe be prosecuted by the ISEC which my lead to disqualification of such candidate.
