    •ISEC Chairman Lifts Ban On Political Activities

    The Management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree has today inaugurated members of the institution's Independent Students' Electoral Commission (ISEC) for the forthcoming 2024/2025 Students Union Government (SUG) election.


    Meanwhile, during the inauguration ceremony at the Board of Studies (BOS) within the institution, five principal officers, which include Chairman, Vice Chairman, General Secretary, Financial Secretary and Public Relations Officer were elected to oversee the activities of the election.


    After the inauguration of ISEC members, principal officers who emerged were Soyinka Abraham Adeniyi, as Chairman; Solomon Matthew, as Vice Chairman; Salako Oluwatobilolw Samsonl, as General Secretary; Bolarinwa Muminat Olajumoke, as PRO and Afolabi Christina Funmilayo, as Financial Secretary.

    The Registrar of the institution, Mr. Abiodun Oloyede,  represented by the Management of the institution who also performed swearing-in exercise for the nominated ISEC members enjoined the members to perform their roles and duties diligently towards preparing them for an opportunity in the future.

    While speaking, the Dean, Students' Affairs, Dr. Tope Abiola, during his opening remark appreciated stakeholders in the institution, who agitated for democratic student's Union, while he maintained that the Management of the institution under the leadership of Rector of the institution, Mr. Kehinde Alabi has approved that SUG election should hold.


    He similarly urged students who are yet to register for course registration to register in order for them to access their examination results on portal. "Any student who fails to pay #30,000 fine will not be able to access their portal," Dr. Abiola noted.


    He pleaded the students to allow a successful conduction of the election while he added that students should shun anti-social behaviors such as cultism, hooliganism and thuggery that can jeopardize the success of the election.


    Furthermore, the institution's Director of Media, Publicity and Protocol, Mr. Bayo Fadeji also reiterated that the entire students should allow the election to be successful by adhering to the rules and regulations guiding the conduction of SUG election.


    He said "let's play the game according to the rules. Maintain impartiality. Let's have our union back," while he also noted that "the ISEC members should not allow interests from supporters of SUG candidates to overshadowed their decisions," noting the students' interest should be their priority.


    Notwithstanding, ISEC chairman, Soyinka Abraham during his inaugural speech, lifted ban on political activities, and assured to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the electoral process in conducting a successful election. He appreciated the Management of the institution and the stakeholders for giving him the opportunity to serve students' interest.


    "I have sworn before the Registrar and the Dean, Students' Affairs of the institution. I will make sure I use all my abilities and power to make sure that there is successful free and fair election," ISEC Chairman, Soyinka Abraham affirmed. 


    Nevertheless, the ISEC inauguration ceremony, was however chaired by the Registrar of the institution, Mr. Oloyede Abiodun and also had in attendance were the institution's Dean, Students' Affairs, Dr. Tope Abiola; Director of Media, Publicity and Protocol, Mr. Bayo Fadeji; Students' Affairs Officer, Mr. Olawoye Olawoyin; OSPOLY Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olonade Oluwaseun, stakeholders in the institution and the newly inaugurated ISEC members.
