The outgoing Faculty President, Sunday Asiyanbola, described the poll as smooth and stress-free. “Because there is only one candidate for each post, we expected a peaceful election, and that is exactly what we have witnessed,” he noted.
ISEC Chairman Oluwafemi Timothy reaffirmed the Sub-Dean’s observation, saying the committee had advised students to maintain decorum throughout the process.
However, Comrade Keefa Habeeb Abidemi called the election the first truly free and fair exercise in the faculty’s history. He explained that lecturers had recommended unopposed candidacies to prevent a repeat of last year’s disagreements among student leaders and stakeholders. “This year’s election has promoted unity among our students,” he added, while urging the new executives to prioritize academics and protect the legacies of their predecessors.
Quantity Surveying Department President Comrade Adewale Azeez Olagunju also expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct. He revealed that a constitution had been drafted to guide future executives and that arrangements were already in place regarding which department will produce the next leadership.
Stakeholders concluded by advising the newly elected leaders to govern with humility, unity, and a strong commitment to the progress of the faculty.
Congratulations
