OSPOLY FAIDSA Day 2025: Expert Highlights Art As Tool For Social Change
The Faculty of Art and Industrial Design Students' Association (FAIDSA), Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY), Iree, under the leadership of Comrade Olaniyi Peace Oyindamola, held annual FAIDSA Day with the theme “Exploring the Social Impact of Art in a Changing Society.”
The event which unfolded at FAID Villa today, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, drew distinguished guests, academia, student leaders, and cultural enthusiasts who gathered to celebrate the relevance of art in contemporary society.
While delivering the keynote address, Head of Department of Fine and Applied Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Prof. Michael Olasegun Fajuyigbe (Ph.D), emphasized the transformative power of art while he noted that art is not only a medium of self-expression but also a tool for social change and national development.
Also, the acting Dean of the Faculty Arts, Mrs. Omisakin, encouraged students to apply their artistic skills in tackling real-life challenges, stressing that art remains a bridge between tradition and modernity.
Similarly, the Head of the Department of Art and Design, Mr. Olatunbosun, expressed gratitude to guests for supporting the association’s vision of promoting art and industrial design.
Other dignitaries in attendance included FAIDSA Admission Officer, Mrs. Nike; Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Tope Abiola; Senior Special Adviser on Art and Culture to JCC Osun Axis, Oloye Ifarotimi Adeyefa, just to mention a few.
