JUST IN: SRC Holds Inter-Memorandum Meeting With Faculty Leaders on CBT, School Issues
The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY), Iree, held an inter-memorandum sitting with the faculty presidents and faculty speakers to deliberate on the introduction of Computer-Based Tests (CBT) and other pressing school issues.
The meeting, which took place on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the Students’ Union Government (SUG) Building, focused on strategies for effectively communicating CBT-related policies to students across the institution and helping them adapt to the new examination system.
The Senate President, Hon. Comrade Ogunsaki, raised concerns about how student leaders could ensure that students properly understand and engage with the new CBT initiative, emphasizing the need for effective follow-up and awareness to encourage student participation and acceptance.
While, the Faculty of Engineering President, Hon. Comrade Shu’aib Taofeeq, noted that the major concern should be how students would cope with the CBT system.
He stressed that while the idea is acceptable, efforts should be directed at guiding students rather than condemning the initiative.
Moreover, the Speaker of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT), Comrade Obe Aduragbemi Oluwaseun, suggested the introduction of CBT mock examinations.
According to him, mock tests would help students understand how the system operates and reduce technical challenges during actual examinations.
In response, the Senate President explained that not all examinations would be computer-based. He stated that courses requiring written examinations, estimated at about 40%, particularly in the Science and Engineering faculties, would be done through written examinations, while the remaining courses would be CBT.
As part of the resolutions reached, Hon. Comrade Ogunsaki announced that a video explanation would be produced and circulated to students, detailing how the CBT system works, and urged student leaders to promote the benefits of the initiative, describing it as a step toward academic improvement and aligning OSPOLY with practices already adopted by many institutions.
Furthermore, sited leaders agreed to the idea of nomination of departmental and faculty-level coordinators, including a Chairman, General Secretary, Public Relations Officer (PRO), and other stakeholders.
