• JUST IN: SRC Kicks Against Unauthorized NAMACOS Receipts, Demands Immediate Suspension

    By Samuel Akintola

The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the National Association of Mass Communication Students (NAMACOS), Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has petitioned the NAMACOS Executives over the ongoing issuance of official NAMACOS receipts to students without legislative approval.

In a forwarded memo dated January 28, 2026, and signed by the SRC Speaker, Hon. Comrade Olaoye Benjamin Itunu, the council stated that “the ongoing issuance of NAMACOS official receipts to students of Mass Communication, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, is unauthorized.”

According to the memo, “in line with the constitutional provisions guiding the National Association of Mass Communication Students, no official receipt or financial document should be issued to students without proper legislative deliberation, approval, and documentation by the Students’ Representative Council (SRC).”

The SRC further noted that the issuance of the receipt did not pass through the required budgetary and legislative process, as enshrined in Section 4(a) of the reviewed NAMACOS Constitution, which outlines the legislative duties and oversight responsibilities of the council.

Speaking during an interview conducted by NEB correspondent, the SRC Speaker, Hon. Comrade Olaoye Benjamin Itunu, said he discovered that students had been issued official receipts without the necessary approval of the receipt budget by the SRC.

“I discovered that students have been getting official receipts without the necessary approval of the budget for the receipt from the SRC,” he said.

The Speaker added that the council’s action was not intended to create conflict but to restore due process and order within the association.

“Yes, thank you very much. I discovered some things today that are not supposed to happen. And as such, there is a need for us to call them to order in peace and harmony,” he added.

However, the memo stressed that the issuance of the NAMACOS official receipt should be suspended until proper legislative approval is obtained and an official resolution is passed by the SRC.

It would be recalled that the NAMACOS President, Comrade Olayemi Kazeem Adebayo, through the association’s executive structure, had commenced the issuance of official receipts to students, a development which later prompted the SRC’s intervention.
