• #EndSARS: Police Challenge Campaigners to go to Court

    CP Abayomi Shogunle,
The Nigeria Police have challenged those behind the #EndSARS campaign to go to court with their claims and also show proof of the complaints against officers of the special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

The assistant commissioner of police, Abayomi Shogunle, said this during an exclusive interview with channels television on Friday.

According to him, The #EndSARS campaign have failed to take their complaints to court simply because they don’t have evidence to tender.

Speaking further, the Assistant Commissioner of police said there is a proper structure in place in the police to address criminal issues, especially those involving SARS officials; adding that most complaints of alleged SARS harassment came from Lagos State.

He however stressed that for any case to be taken seriously, they should be taken to a court of law.

The #EndSARS campaign gained momentum in 2017 when several Nigerian Celebrities joined their voices with that of the masses on the social media to complain about the "brutal operations" of SARS officials.

Some key people who joined the campaign included the Co-convener of Bring back our girls group, Mrs Obiageli Ezekuesili, Television and Entertainment stars,  Ebuka Obi – Uchendu, Don Jazzy, Simi among others.
