Faculty of information and communications, technology, has received a double blow as faculty of financial studies and faculty of science, in Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, beat them in both male and female matches to champion Rector's Cups.
It was a reversal of fortune for FICT as it lost what could've been four years' records to always romp the Rector's Cup, on Thursday.
Tellingly, in what nearly appears a grand slam, both FFS FC and FCS FC drubbed FICT to a parallel defeat with no chance to bag a Rector's trophy home.
Starting with the female match, the Pavilion met with a hard hit immediately when the game started at exactly 2:45 pm between FICT female FC and FFS female FC.
At first, the two teams hard-hit selves and ended up on a scoreless tiebreak in full time, opening an option for a penalty shootout.
However, FICT female FC probably slumbered as it gave its opponent, coming from the Ag. Rector's home, a chance to steal away the match with the scoreline 5-3, leaving the female Rector's Cup drifts for the first time in three years from FICT.
In the same vein, FICT male FC would have doused the pain and brought home the cup but couldn't as FCS male FC, too, spannered them to defeat and change the narrative of the three years of nonstop winning.
FCS male FC and FICT male FC too tried, blocking every side with stern defence. But the defensive was too much that both the first and second halves of the match ended in a barren draw.
It was like the best of both FCS male FC and FICT male FC players were featured as both kept showing their football skills, dribbling and swivelling to each other's territory while guarding their home, firmly.
Notwithstanding, FICT male FC later drilled to their Waterloo as the match head locked into a penalty shootout; FCS male FC championed the game with a scoreline of 5-4.
Worthy of note, the newly-appointed Ag. Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Tajudeen Odetayo represented by the Director of General Studies J.O Ogunyemi, Director of sports, M. A Oseni and other principal officers were there to grace the match.
Even, though Ogunyemi gave a congratulatory speech to the winning team; he never fails to motivate, the great FICT defeated in both matches. He advised adequate preparation for future matches.
Furthermore, the rector presents a pack of Jersey, medals and a sum of #50,000 to the faculty of engineering for taking third place in the Rector's Cup, while a pack of Jersey, medals and a sum of #70,000 naira to FICT who bagged only second Runner-up.
Also, another pack of Jersey, medals and a sum of #100,000 were given to the winner, the Faculty of science.
Female FCs were given a pack of Jersey and medals.
