“Stop Being A Bad Leader” Enigma Advises Past ,Present Campus Leaders

The former Editor in Chief of Namacos Editorial Board, Folaranmi Ajayi Richardson, academically known as Enigma has recently advised the past and present campus leaders of Osun State Polytechnic,iree , to stop being a bad leader and emulate Donald Payne, a United States African-American Congress man.

He said this on his Facebook page , today.

Enigma in his fifteen paragraphs messages, which he titled “OSPOLY Campus Leaders Past & Present Should Emulate Donald Payne And Stop Being A Bad Model”, questioned why campus leaders have decided to corrupt political activities. In his word ;

“I don't know the proportion of our past and present leaders who have a penchant for thorough reading and reasoning. But, I know we have had campus leaders dedicated to our motto; excellence in character and technology. I know of leaders who are dedicated towards protecting the goodwill of the institution by practically doing exploits during and after their years on campus. I know some of you read the news, some of you are now newsmakers, special advisers to government officials, entrepreneurs, corps members, experts in a chosen field and in reality ambassadors of this noble institution. Furthermore, I know some of you are like many, careless, worried, indifferent, nonchalant, and even endlessly patriotic and shameless about being recognized with the institution”. 

“In point of fact, I need to tell you or perhaps re-inform you about the plight and recent happenings within the confines of our noble alma mater.  If you can read the lines based on what is happening in our noble OSPOLY and still feel unconcerned about the plights of the vulnerable and the entire students. Then, you have passed a stage I have yet to pass”. 

“However, I believe some of you who do read and learn beyond borders would have read the story of a United States African-American congressman. Donald Payne. This brief review is an opportunity to showcase the exploit of Donald Payne as regards the welfare of African-Americans and the white dominated American Congress. Before you read, may I ask you, why have you all neglected the welfare of the students for personal gains? Why are you dedicated to endless division and tyranny of the majority? These rhetorical questions are directed to active participants in matters and issues that affect the students. I promise to mention names in my subsequent release. Let's ride the back of history together, many thanks to my media review and critique writing lecturer, Chief Olutope Abiola, hats off to you”.  

“Donald Payne was elected to the American Congress in 1989 from New Jersey, under the umbrella of the Democrat. He was a congressman until his demise on March 6, 2012. He was described as the most committed and consistent advocate for Africa in the American establishment. He was reputed to have spearheaded the cause for assistance to American and International Community to end the Liberian Civil War in the 1990s. This was to complement Nigeria and the ECOWAS' historic intervention in that country. Equally, Payne pushed a reluctant American government to take the right step as regards the crisis in Rwanda, Sudan and the Congo. As such, he was one of the architects of a bill, which led to the release of billions of dollars from American treasury to fight against Malaria, Hiv/Aids and Tuberculosis”.

“Achieving this feat in the white and racist-dominated American Congress was not an easy task, Payne was derided by the white majority as a black tribalism. His party, the Democrat, particularly the mainstream democratic leaders, thought he carried African too high and too far. He was undeterred and refused to yield to the easy and expedient. He never betrayed them for lucre of office and power. Today, I like to remind every discerning ospolites that the merry go rounding shameless leaders are your real enemies of your unity, love, togetherness and progress. It is for you to discern and separate lust for power and power fools who are in the form of powerful”. 

“Back to Payne, The exploit of Payne is a lesson for our leaders, particularly our leaders past and present. How have they used the mandate given to them by the students? Are they not chasing money, coveting power and romancing ambition?  These are evident in the current day Ospoly where students are intimidated, harassed, exploited and even brutalized by the creation of some past leaders. In the pursuit of political superiority and dominance, we have allowed campus leadership to be at the mercy of the worst set of leaders who are only equipped with all forms of voodoo, hooliganism, hate, politics of calumny, divide and rule mentality, vain glory sharing and deaf individuals to the issues bedeviling the students”. 

“How many of these leaders have used their zest and power to confront management oppression and state government officials  involvement on campus politics. The same way I asked myself over and over again, what has been the contributions of these guys apart from showing serious interest in campus politics and NANS elections. Share with me the impacts of NANS to campus issues in the last one year. I am not bothered by these cultists parading themselves as campus leaders. Do I detest NANS? Absolutely No! The like of Solace reminds me of exceptional representation. You may not like this,I don't care.  Ospolites are in dire need of your mentorship and not your tormentorship only a microscopic few can relate and separate false from real reality. The rest can't reason, they are lost in the ocean of sentiments and mediocrity. Myopic leaders and senseless political shenanigans”. 

“Today, we have many state government officials directly and indirectly involving in campus politics across the board because of their personal greed. They have neglected the interest of the entire students but has made political anointing of candidate their usual lot. What a shame! The signs are clear, it is audible to the deaf and visible to the blind that we are fast raising beasts among campus leaders who in turn will bring disrepute to the institution through their actions and inaction”. 

“Why have you all decided to corrupt political activities and the political peace of the students' community by raising beasts out of the campus leaders?”

“Why have you allowed your hatred and personal lot for power dismantle sportsmanship and brotherhood?”

“You have successfully passed on endemic political corruption, intellectual trafficking, political abuse, bewitched good ideological organization and eradication of sportsmanship, examination malpractice is now fast discouraging serious students, reading habits and competition geared towards improving academic excellence is now entirely discouraged. Funnily enough, you ask what happened to competence, excellence, team spirit, common pool, egalitarianism, sportsmanship, uniform fight against all oppressive tendencies and intellectual conversations among students”. 

“Today, Ospolites are misrepresented all over as either ritutalists or one who engages in cyberbullying and stalking owing to the recent events tearing the media about one who allegedly used his girl lover for rituals, issues of security in and outside campus is another menace neglected on the table of discussion. Missing students here and there. And no one is TALKING, well some are anyway”. 

“Tellingly, every sinister activities of rigging of elections, gross indiscipline, insubordination to authority, lack of concern for the welfare of other students, politics of intimidation, celebration of mediocrity, and breeding of political stooges and puppets can be dealt with provided you are not under any spell of these leaders whose goal is to one day achieve their self-motivated interests”. 

“Payne was not recognised for the number of his mansions, fleet of cars, fat bank accounts, at home and abroad, but for his positive impact, particularly on his black constituency. Like Payne, people will put pen to paper about our past and current leaders after their demise. What are they going to be remembered for? Power and life are transient”.

“I will discuss the untold stories of our  alliance and how lecturers love these unending divisions”.
