Attempted Kidnap: Ospoly Mgt Bans Okada On Campus
The management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has banned the operations of motorcycles popularly called Okada on the main campus due to a recent case of attempted kidnap of a member of staff.
This was made known through a memo released and signed by The registrar Mr. B.M Salawu, on Thursday.
According to the memo, the ban was pronounced after one of the members of staff was almost kidnapped by one of the Okada riders on campus while it also describes the activities of Okada riders as a threat to the school security.
The management also described the ban as “immediate and total “.
The released memo which was titled “ STOPPAGE OF ACTIVITIES OF MOTORCYCLE (OKADA RIDERS ON CAMPUS), reads;
“The Management has noted with dismay the activities of motorcycle riders (otherwise known as okada) in the institution which led to a near kidnap of a member of Staff in the Institution recently. This has been noted to have posed a serious security challenge in the Institution”.
“in view of this, Management has directed an immediate and total ban on the
activities of motorcycle (okada) riders on campus”
“For the avoidance of doubt, no okada rider shall henceforth be allowed in the
institution as any motorcycle seeing plying the Institution shall be impounded
forthwith”
“All security personnel and agencies are therefore directed by the provisions of this memo to ensure compliance”.
