OSPOLY SUG Frowns Against Increment Of Hostel Fee, Says Fees Unbearable

The Student Union Government of Osun State polytechnic, Iree, has frowned against the increment of hostel fees around the institution community.

This development was revealed on Monday, via a statement signed by the union PRO, Daramola Pelumi and the SUG president-elect, Azeez Tajudeen, which was made available to the general public.

According to the statement, The union described the increment as a means of extortion on the entire student populace, adding that the increment is unbearable in this uncomfortable time. 

However, the union further revealed that it has paid a visit to the Chief Imam of the community and has explained in detail how the increment is affecting the student.

The union also made it known that the Chief Imam has promised to meet with the community leaders and members to secure a change in due time. 

The released Union statement titled “ END INCREMENT OF HOSTEL FEE”,  reads ; 

“Combatant greetings to entire OSPOLY student’s populace at large. We welcome you all back on campus for the academic session 2022/2023. “

 “In the three (3) basic needs of man, shelter is a very important and crucial need that cannot be resisted by man. Hence, any spike or increment to render man homeless should be resisted by the public”

“There are growing concerns by students in _OSUN STATE POLYTECHNIC IREE_ who live off-campus, over the arbitrary increase in hostel fee by landlords in these austere times.

The alarming rate of hostels fee in our institution community area is quite extorting and unbearable to the entire student’s populace”

“It is in this view, _the STUDENT’s UNION EXECUTIVES ELECT AND NAOSS EXECUTIVES_ visit the Chief Imam of the community.”

“We made detailed explanations on how the increment is in all way affecting the students. 

The Chief Imam said in his words that he would meet with other community leaders and members of the community over this issue and promised us that in due time changes will be made. “

“Once again, the union urge the community landlords and caretakers to reduce the rate of Hostel fees, we are student who are contributing to the community development and we find life unbearable following the hike by landlords and caretakers.”
