The top management of Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY), Iree, has held a meeting with student representatives to address key issues bordering on student registration, academic reforms, and campus discipline.

The meeting took place at the Board of Studies (BOS) on February 2, 2026, where school leaders engaged students on the new era of technological improvements within the institution.

During the meeting, the Rector of the institution, Alhaji Alabi Kehinde A., disclosed that such engagements would henceforth be held every semester to strengthen communication and foster a more cordial relationship between the school management and students.

While addressing the gathering, the Rector announced that the institution is preparing for its forthcoming convocation ceremony, stressing that all academic processes must be properly concluded. He noted that management is currently working tirelessly to compile the academic records and results of recently graduated students.

Furthermore, he unveiled a major academic reform, declaring that the era of students returning to campus to check examination results has ended. According to him, all results will now be uploaded to the school portal, enabling students to access them easily without stress. He added that lecturers will no longer move around with physical score sheets, as the new digital system has fully taken over result management.

On academic discipline, the Rector emphasized that class attendance is now compulsory, stating that lecturers are mandated to take attendance regardless of the number of students present in class.

Addressing registration matters, the management urged all students, especially freshers, to complete both online and physical registration on time, noting that delays often affect service delivery and academic processes. With strong appeals, the Rector announced that the registration deadline has been extended to March 2, 2026, emphasizing that students must first pay their school fees before gaining access to course registration on the portal.

Speaking further, the Rector addressed concerns surrounding the number of courses listed on students’ portals, explaining that while the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) allocates courses to each programme, departments are permitted to add core courses where necessary.

According to him, this accounts for why some departments/Faculties appear to have more courses than others, as such additions are made to strengthen academic content and meet professional requirements.

Meanwhile, the Students’ Union Government (SUG) President, Comrade Ajayi Kehinde, raised concerns about students who depend on NELFUND to settle their financial obligations but currently have limited access to the platform.

In response, the management advised affected students to continue pursuing the process and directed that all NELFUND-related issues be reported to the school portal manager.

The meeting commenced with opening remarks by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Tope Abiola, who also reiterated the institution’s stance on indecent dressing and the forthcoming Computer-Based Test (CBT) examinations.

In attendance were top management officials, including the Dean of Student Affairs; the Chairman of the Security Committee, Dr. Olutope Abiola L.; the Chief Administrative Officer (Registrar), Prince Abiodun Oloyede; the Deputy Registrar, Mr. Odedeyi James; the Acting Bursar, Mr. Olabanji; the Deputy Rector, Dr. Gboyega Oluwaseun O.; alongside the Rector himself, popularly referred to as the “Talk and Do Rector.”
