Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY), Iree on Thursday, March 26, 2026, graduated a total of 26,995 students across various programmes at its combined 8th convocation ceremony, marking a major academic milestone for the institution.

Addressing the ceremony at the institution’s pavilion, the Rector, Comrade Kehinde Adeyemi Alabi, disclosed that 11,201 students were awarded Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates, while 15,727 received National Diploma (ND). He added that 67 others obtained the National Certificate in Education (NCE).

According to him, the graduates completed their academic requirements across the 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023, 2023/2024, and  2024/2025 academic sessions. He further revealed that several students graduated with distinctions, including 84 at the HND level and 78 at the ND level.

The Rector described the convocation as a defining moment for the institution, reflecting years of dedication, resilience, and academic commitment by both students and staff.

Alabi noted that the polytechnic has recorded significant progress in recent years, expanding its academic programmes to about 69 fully accredited courses, thereby improving its competitiveness in the higher education sector. He also highlighted infrastructural and academic developments, including improved facilities, enhanced digital systems, and the introduction of innovative programmes aimed at equipping students with practical and entrepreneurial skills.

He attributed many of the achievements to the support of the Osun State Government, particularly in the areas of staff welfare, infrastructure, and programme accreditation.

However, while charging the graduating students, the Rector urged them to remain disciplined, innovative, and focused as they step into the wider society.

“Wherever you go, remember you represent this institution,” he said, emphasizing that the certificates awarded are not only symbols of achievement but also responsibilities.

He added that the education received at the polytechnic goes beyond technical knowledge, equipping students with the values needed to make meaningful contributions to society.

Alabi also commended the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for his support toward the development of the institution, noting improvements in staff welfare and infrastructure, including the tarring of the road leading to the campus.

He, then appealed for further extension of the road project to improve accessibility around the institution.
