The Management of Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY), Iree, have released comprehensive guidelines for the conduct of its upcoming mobile Computer-Based Examinations (CBE), directing all students, lecturers, and invigilators to comply strictly with the new procedures.
According to a statement from the Directorate of Examinations, the initiative is aimed at ensuring a smooth, secure, and technology-driven examination process for the semester.
The institution mandated all candidates to download the Xerxes SIEMS application from either the Google Play Store or Apple App Store ( IOS ), install it, and grant all required permissions ahead of the examinations. Students are also required to log in using credentials sent via official email notifications.

The statement further explained that each student must complete biometric facial registration, register their courses, and print out their examination slip before the examination date.
On the day of the examination, candidates are expected to generate a unique QR code linked to their course. Invigilators will scan the code to produce a device-specific six-digit access PIN, which will be sent as a notification to the student’s device. The PIN, which expires within two minutes, will grant access to the examination questions after being entered into the app.
To ensure examination integrity, invigilators will also use the app’s QR code scanner to detect cases of impersonation. Students are advised to enable app notifications to receive their access PINs promptly.
The polytechnic emphasized that only one mobile phone or tablet will be permitted per student in the examination hall, while other smart devices or gadgets are strictly prohibited. Any unauthorized materials found within the venue will be confiscated.
Additionally, the management disclosed that dedicated venues with secure invigilation will be provided on campus, while examinations may be rescheduled in the event of prolonged server or network failures.
Students whose facial registration does not match their identity during or after the examination will be reported to the Students’ Examinations Disciplinary Committee.
The institution urged all eligible students to familiarize themselves with the application and seek assistance where necessary before the examination date to avoid complications.
