NANS President Akinteye Babatunde Demands Better Internet, CBE Upgrade, SUG Building Renovation at OSPOLY

The National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez (Babtee), called on the management of Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY), Iree, to improve internet services, upgrade the institution's Computer-Based Examination (CBE) system, and renovate the Students' Union Government (SUG) building.
Babtee made the demands during a visit to the institution today, 20th July 2026, where he met with the Rector, management team, student leaders, and other stakeholders to discuss issues affecting students.
Addressing the gathering, the NANS President said he was concerned about the poor internet service available to students despite the fees paid for connectivity. He noted that many students had complained about irregular network access, which he described as a challenge requiring urgent attention.
He also raised concerns about the technical difficulties encountered during the institution's Computer-Based Examinations (CBE), urging management to strengthen the technological infrastructure before fully implementing the system. According to him, adequate facilities and proper coordination are necessary to ensure students are not disadvantaged during examinations.
On students' welfare, Babtee appealed for the immediate renovation of the Students' Union Government building, describing it as an important facility that deserves urgent attention. He urged the institution to complete the project within the next few weeks.
The NANS President also commended the OSPOLY SUG President, Comrade Ajayi Kehinde Emmanuel (Sir Kenny), for not disputing his earlier public comments on issues affecting students. He disclosed that before making those comments, he relied on information gathered directly from students rather than consulting the SUG President, NANS South-West Zone D Coordinator, NANS appointees on campus, or the NANS South-West Zone Assistant General Secretary.
Responding, the Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Alhaji Kehinde Alabi, reaffirmed the institution's commitment to students' welfare and academic development.
He explained that consultants had already identified the technical challenges affecting the CBE system and assured students that the issues would be addressed to ensure smoother examinations in the future.
On the renovation of the SUG building, the Rector disclosed that the project had already been captured in the institution's development plans and would commence within the next few months.
Babtee, however, appealed for the renovation to begin sooner and further urged members of the institution's management to continue supporting the Rector's efforts toward improving infrastructure and enhancing the welfare and academic experience of students at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
