JUST IN: OSPOLY ISEC Postpones 2026/2027 SRC Election to September 14
The Independent Students Electoral Commission (ISEC), Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has postponed the 2026/2027 Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Election, earlier scheduled for Friday, September 11, 2026.
According to a memorandum issued by the Commission on Thursday, September 10, the election will now be held on Monday, September 14, 2026.
ISEC attributed the postponement to delays in the submission and uploading of students’ academic results by some Heads of Department (HODs) to the Management Information System (MIS) Unit.
The Commission explained that the eligibility of SRC aspirants, particularly the required minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), must be verified through official academic records before the election can be conducted.
It noted that the unavailability of complete and verified results had made it difficult to conclusively determine the eligibility of all aspirants and complete the screening process in accordance with the Student Union Constitution.
ISEC said it had made efforts to resolve the issue and ensure the election proceeded as initially scheduled. However, it maintained that conducting the election without the necessary academic records could affect the credibility, fairness, transparency and constitutional validity of the process.
The Commission therefore described the postponement as necessary to allow for the proper screening of all aspirants and ensure that the election is conducted in line with the provisions of the Student Union Constitution.
ISEC urged all SRC aspirants, student leaders and Class Governors to take note of the new date and remain attentive to further official announcements on the revised electoral timetable, screening arrangements and other election procedures.
The memorandum was signed by the ISEC Chairman, Adeniyi Adekunle Raphael, and the Secretary, Shittu Faruq, while it was disseminated by the Commission’s Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Victoria Pelumi.
