OSPOLY Rector, Kehinde Alabi Dismisses Claims Of Manipulation In OSPOLY SUG Election

The Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Comrade Kehinde Alabi, has dismissed claims of manipulation surrounding the just-concluded Students’ Union Government (SUG) election conducted at the institution on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Speaking during an interview with NEB Correspondent, the Rector said no external person was involved in the technological infrastructure used for the election, except Ganaf, who is responsible for the institution’s student portal. He added that no lecturer, staff member, or member of the school management was involved in the election's technical process.

According to him, the electronic voting system was adopted to reduce interference and promote a more credible electoral process. He noted that the institution had recorded improvements in its e-voting process, as the just-concluded election marked the Polytechnic’s second e-voting election. He added that the experience from the first exercise had helped the institution improve the process for the latest election.

The Rector further pledged that any hidden influence or interference from individuals would be monitored to prevent such occurrences in future elections. He also said suggestions from students aimed at improving the electoral process would be considered by the school authority.

He stated that any “cogent reason” that may not invalidate the election but could serve as an amendment to the process would be welcomed by the institution. He added that the school’s consultant could testify to the deployment of the technology used for the election.

Mr. Kehinde Alabi therefore advised students to remain calm, maintaining that, according to the school authority, nothing was manipulated during the election. His statement followed concerns raised by some students after the announcement of the election results, as the institution concluded its second electronic voting exercise.
