Closure of Institution: OSPOLY SUG Appeals To Osun Govt For Timely Resolution
The Students' Union Government of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, under the leadership of President, Azeez Tajudeen Adebayo, has appealed to the Osun State government, to take swift steps in resolving the industrial crisis which is keeping the institution closed.

According to the Body, the decision of the government to impose a two-week break on the institution following the rectorship saga has left the academic community in a state of anxiety and concern.
Furthermore, the Union also implored the government to prioritize the well-being and educational progress of the students, citing education as the foundation of development.
It will be called that a two-week break and immediate closure of the institution ordered by the state’s Ministry of Education was imposed on the institution after the suspended rector of the institution, Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo appeared in office.
Recall that Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo was suspended in July 2023 over allegations of misappropriation of funds, and abuse of office, among other allegations, while the immediate appointment of Mr. Kehinde Alabi as an acting rector of the institution, was greeted by ASUP strike action which lasted for 30-days.
“We hope this message finds you well. We, the Student Union Government (SUG) of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, write to express our sincere and urgent appeal for the timely resolution of the ongoing crisis on our campus.
“As you are aware, our institution is currently facing a period of uncertainty and unrest. The recent decision to impose a two-week break following the rectorship saga that has left our academic community in a state of anxiety and concern. Ospolites are eagerly awaiting positive results and a swift resolution to this crisis.
“We recognize the complexities and challenges involved in addressing the issues at hand, but we implore the Osun State Government to prioritize the well-being and educational progress of our students. Education is the foundation of progress and development, and any disruption to our academic activities affects us all.
“We believe that dialogue, engagement, and constructive solutions can address the current challenges without resorting to extended breaks. The students have shown their commitment to their education, and they deserve an environment that supports their pursuit of knowledge.
“We kindly request that the government, in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders, expedites the resolution of this crisis before the end of the two-week break. The eager anticipation of Ospolites for positive results cannot be understated, and we believe that a timely resolution will restore peace and stability to our campus.
“The Student Union Government (SUG) remains open to participating in any constructive discussions or processes that will lead to a resolution. We trust in the commitment of the Osun State Government to the welfare and education of its citizens.
