OSPOLY NAEEES Freshers' Orientation: Be Focused, Flee From Destructive Associations, Engr. Omotayo Urges New Students
It was a gathering styled with creativity, morals and intellectualism, as the National Association Of Electrical Electronic Engineering Students (NAEEES) of the Osun state polytechnic, Iree (OSPOLY) held its orientation program for new students of the department.
During his remarks, the Head of the Elect/Elect department, Engineer Omotayo Mayowa admonished the new students of his department to remain focused and unwavering in their academic journey in the institution.
He stressed that distraction is a dangerous factor that often sways bright students from achieving their academic and other goals in life. He added that distractions could be subtle, making it difficult for students to identify it when it surfaces, noting that, "distractions could come from friends, classmates, hostel mates, mobile gadgets and other areas. Just avoid being distracted in order to achieve your goals."
Engineer Omotayo said this during the orientation program, which was held today at the FENG hall 3 venue, for the new students of the National Association Of Electrical Electronic Engineering Students (NAEEES).
He further advised the students to be careful of groups or individuals they associate with. Engr. mayowa maintains that "evil associations corrupt good manners."
"Osun State Polytechnic, Iree is prestigious tertiary institution that has made many giants and successful experts in their respective fields. All you have to do is to be focused- attend classes, be studious, take your continuous assessments seriously and be respectful to your lecturers, all of this are necessary for both your academic and moral advancement. I wish you all success.", Engr. Omotayo said.

Also, Speaking at the orientation program, Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Engineering (FENG), Engineer Oyajide charged the students to be both ethically and morally upright, exploring the students to ,"go through the student's guide. Under the do's and don't of the institution. OSPOLY does not condone any act of indiscipline or immorality, whatsoever, we pride ourselves in our motto "excellence in character and technology". We want you all to be exemplary ambassador of this institution."
Nevertheless, another respected lecturer in the department, Engr. Bisiriyu, during his remarks at the program instructed the students to tighten their belts, buttressing that, "the Engineering department is a department that requires impartial focus and commitment to be successful. We are ready to build you, be ready to learn," Engr Bisiriyu said.
Speaking on ''The Significance of Practicals and Skill Acquisition", Engr. Ajetumobi noted that students who have practical skills are more employable than students who depend on only theoretical knowledge. He added that, "it is sacrosanct to be theoretically sound, but having problem-solving skills makes you more relevant and employable. You're in the right place to acquire life-changing skills. Take the Practicals seriously, it would of great benefit to you."
A major sideshow at the NAEEES Freshers' Orientation program was a quiz competition, where selected students were asked questions on current affairs, about Osun state polytechnic, Iree and on general studies. Winners of the quiz competition were handsomely awarded.
