BREAKING: Students Union Government Dissolves Unauthorized Organizations in OSPOLY
The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has dissolved a group of unauthorized Student Union Executives claiming to represent the University of Ilorin affiliate programme, describing their appointment as illegal and unconstitutional.
In a statement released by the Students’ Union Executive (SUE), the SUG emphasized that the purported executives lack legal recognition and are not recognized by the institution or the union.
The statement cited the amended constitution of the Osun State Polytechnic Student Union (Section 11, Subsection 3), which requires any association seeking affiliation to apply in writing, provide its constitution and activity plan, and have existed for at least two semesters before approval.
“The so-called University of Ilorin affiliate executives have not met these conditions and therefore have no authority to operate under the SUG framework,” the statement read.
The union further reminded students that the SUG is the only body representing all bona fide students, including those under affiliate programmes, and warned that participation in unauthorized union activities would violate institutional regulations.
The Students’ Union Government assured students of its commitment to inclusive representation, open communication, and cooperation with all students across both main and affiliate programmes.
