• NAMACOS Reconstructed Six-Face Toilet Facility, Improves Sanitation for Mass Communication Students

    By Samuel Akintola

The National Association of Mass Communication Students (NAMACOS), Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, commissioned a fully reconstructed six-face toilet facility aimed at improving sanitation, student welfare, and environmental safety within the department.

The project, executed by the 2024/2025 Executive Council under the leadership of the NAMACOS President, Shuaib Abdullateef Abolaji (P.C. Bankz), transformed a long-abandoned structure into a modern and functional convenience center for students.

However, speaking during the commissioning, Abolaji said the reconstruction was part of the administration’s commitment to accountability and responsible leadership. He described the initiative as a major step toward restoring dignity, safety, and hygiene in the department.

“Sanitation is not a luxury; it is a basic right that affects productivity, health, and personal dignity,” he said.

“This project demonstrates what discipline, teamwork, and purposeful leadership can achieve.”

According to him, the reconstruction involved reinforcing the building’s structure, installing new squatting systems, repainting the facility, improving ventilation, and providing new doors and carpentry works. He added that a controlled access system has been introduced to ensure the facility remains clean and secure.

Under the new guidelines, the toilet key will be kept with the Department Secretary, and students will be required to present their school ID card before collecting it. The ID card will be returned upon returning the key.

Abolaji noted that the key has now become an official departmental property, to be transferred from one administration to another for continuity.

The President also acknowledged individuals and stakeholders who supported the project, including the Head of Department, Dr. Idowu Akinrosoye, several student leaders, alumni, and members of the NAMACOS community.

He said the collective contribution toward the project reflects the spirit of unity and responsibility the administration hopes to strengthen among students.

“As executives, we are obligated to leave the department better than we met it,” he said.

“This facility is a symbol of what we can achieve together, but its sustainability depends on all students making responsible use of it."
