Ospoly Hawkers: We Hawk To Support Our Parents

A cross section of under aged children hawking different types of goods around the campus of Osun State Polytechnic have said they are engaging in street trading in order to support the meagre income of their parents selling puff-puff in a transparent plastic bucket.

 According to 14 years-old Jamiu idayat who said she is into street hawking to support her mother little income; she also stated that her mother's income is so meagre that it cannot take care of her family's need for a month, necessitating her resolve to support the woman by hawking puff-puff.

However, dayat expressed dissatisfaction at her situation, saying that she preferred going to school to hawking around the school campus.

 Another hawker, 12 years-old oloyede monsurat, said hawking had become an essential part of her. She also stated that without hawking, it would be very difficult for her family to keep the wolf away from the door.

Monsurat who is a student of the Baptist High School Iree, said she hawks sachet water around the campus twice a week, and she attends school three time in a week. She blamed her situation on the poor economic situation of the country.
