Russia 2018 Special: Croatia Dooms Shambolic Eagles
The National team of Nigeria went down 2 goals to zero last night to the Croatia's team after a awful performance in their opening match, at the ongoing World Cup campaign in Russia.
The match was a bit balanced, until Stokes's city latest signing Oghenekharo Etebo at the 32nd minutes converted a corner taken by the Croatian into his own net. The halftime was concluded with Croatia taking the lead from the gifted goal.
The second half began with the super eagle attempting to fly, putting up a little fight back by winning three corners consecutively, but were kept at bay by the Croatia's defenders.
At the 71st minutes, Nigeria conceded a penalty, when Ekong brought down Mandzukic who was trying to head the ball in the box eighteen. Modric, the Croatian skipper, who is prominent in taking penalties stepped up to the task and then sent the goal keeper wrong way to give his team a comfortable lead.
The match ended after four minutes of additional time, placing Croatia at the first position on the log with two goals and three points, while Nigeria with no point and minus two goals rocks the bottom.
Argentina and Iceland hold the second and third spots, after they dramatically shared the spoil earlier on.
However, the Eagles will now have to win their next two matches against Argentina and Iceland to avoid early knock out from the competition.
