The Leader(s) We Want In OSPOLY

There is hardly any general interest of the students achieved so far by the IP imposed caretakers, it is not crystal clear if there is any recommendation on how the complaints of the student can even get to their hearings. If there is any, Probably it wasn’t effective. 

This time around comes another democratic election season and various aspirants are already planning and employing various strategies just to take the right of the people and disappear. History has made it known how many of these politicians tend to turn to a protocol leader or maybe just a cocktail student union leader. It is high time ospolite understood the difference between a leader and a rigger. There are leaders we want and there are leaders we don’t want to see, at all.

Firstly, we want a leader who can respect the media. Irrespective of who is right in front of you. short, ugly, or even small, maybe based on your myopic sense of sighting, as long as they are journalists, they are there to represent the entire public and not for their selfish interest. You have to address the media by viewing them with the fact that you’re addressing the general students that supported you with their vote, which you’re taxed to lead them sensibly and ethically. Even if an interview with a journalist comes as impromptu, you’re expected to attend to it ethically and at least succinctly. Not to even talk about you running away from the media for a scheduled interview. 

Let it be known, that if you don’t have time for the media, claiming you’re busy, then you don’t deserve any vote. You shouldn’t be addressed as an aspirant because you have no respect for the entire public, especially the student which you’re meant to rule. 

We want a leader who has a great ability for philosophizing, a leader with a great ideology, one who believes the media is the people, one who is ready to learn from the media critiques, and one who is accountable to the media [The People]. We want a leader who is not too busy to speak with the media, in a bid to analyze any necessary phenomenon. 

However, who has the responsibility to make sure that this leadership emerges? Truly, it is the ordinary student of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. The student voters who understand how their vote can go far in rebuilding the educational system of this citadel of learning, one who understands the power of his or her franchise in fighting the oppressors and in achieving common goals. In fact, In reducing the suffering of the students, tackling irrelevant imposed dues, and fighting maladministration in various sectors of the institution. 

Dear fellow ospolite, the power is in your hands, the ball is back in your court, and the decision is yours. Express your franchise ethically, logically, and wisely.
