• BREAKING: FICT Triumphs Over FFS In OSPOLY SUC Grand Finale Debate Competition

    The Faculty of Information Communication and Technology (FICT) defeated the Faculty of Financial Studies (FFS) in the Grand Finale Debate Competition organized by the Students Union Caretaker (SUC), Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, led by Comrade Olaniyi Ajoke Deborah. 


    The debate competition which kick-started on Tuesday, 12th, 2025 saw it final today 14th, of August 2025 at the Institution Education TetFunds (ETF).


    Moreso, the debate which was centered on the motion: “AI As A Tool Of Technological Advancement," saw FICT, an opposing side secured a higher points of 160 compared to supporting side, Faculty of Financial Studies' 153 points.


    The representatives from FICT include Obe Aduragbemi Oluwaseun and Itunuoluwa Adeyemi Oluwadokun while from FFS, Julius Joy Abidemi and Olaiya Olasunkanmi Illiaqi. NEB witnessed that the both Faculties qualified for the first round and second round of the debate competition before the final round.

    However, the debate was judged by a senior Lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Aderemi Adeagbo and Directorate of Examination, Mr. Olagunju R.M. However, the judges praised the contestants for their efforts and commitment, noting fair evaluation throughout the competition.


    Moreover, the Permanent Secretary of the Osun State Ministry of Education, represented by Mr. Olamuyiwa, commended OSPOLY management for setting a benchmark for tertiary institutions in Osun and Nigeria. He emphasized that Ministry of Education is committed to collaborate with the institution to produce future leaders.


    Nevertheless, the Chairman of the Osun State Teaching Service Commission, Hon. Fadairo, received an award of excellence. He also addressed the issue of the Student Union Government (SUG) election, assuring students that free and fair election would be conducted to allow students choose their preferred candidates.


    Dignitaries and Awardees at the grand finale of the debate competition include OSPOLY Dean, Students' Affairs, Dr. Tope Abiola; OSPOLY Governing Council Representative, Prince Abidoye Francis; OSPOLY Directorate of Examination, Mr. Olagunju; Dr. Adeagbo Aderemi; SSA on Civil Society, Comrade Ige Oluwasegun Ebenezer; Permanent Secretary of the Osun State Ministry of Education, represented by Mr. Olamuyiwa; NANS JCC chairman Osun Axis, Comrade Solomon Ayobami; NANS South West Coordinator, Comrade Omolewa Taiwo; SSA to the Governor on Legal Matters, Barrister Micheal Nmone and others.
