BREAKING: OSPOLY Appoints Adekunle Sikiru As Acting HOD Of Photography

Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY), Iree, has recently appointed Mr. Adekunle Sikiru fondly called Abacus as the acting Head of Department of Photography, a new department under Faculty of Information Communication and Technology (FICT).

The newly appointed Head of Department, felt elated, expressing gratitude to God for his appointment while describing it as a privilege he did not expected.

While speaking with journalist, he said, “Glory be to Almighty God for this appointment. I can’t say it is because of my perfection or hard work, I never saw it coming. I see it as an opportunity to serve, not because I am the best lecturer in Mass communication.”

He appreciated the Rector, Alhaji Kehinde Adeyemi Alabi, the Dean of the Faculty, Mr. Stephen Oladoye, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Tope Abiola, and HOD Mass Communication, Dr. Idowu Akinrosoye for their confidence and support, assuring them of his commitment to the growth and progress of the department.

Adekunle Sikiru noted that operations has kick-started immediately after the appointment. He said efforts have been made by reaching out to other departments and some people in ensuring that interested candidates seeking admission can apply.

"Photography is a practical-oriented course that can empower students after graduation. It is a department that will give moral values and the knowledge acquired can be relied on," he said.

Acting HOD said once students are offered admission, several academic and developmental programs will be introduced to enhance learning, build and create more opportunities for students.

He also addressed ongoing admission matters, stating that candidates who have chosen Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, as their first choice under the Faculty of Art and Social Sciences will be considered for admission, provided they follow due process.

He also added that interested students who have chosen Osun State Polytechnic, Iree as first choice but yet to be offered admission in the initial chosen course and wishes to change course can do change of course and pick Photography. He also stated that admission is guaranteed.

Adekunle Sikiru had his National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mass Communication, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. He also went to Fountain University for his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Mass Communication while he similarly bagged Masters of Science (M.Sc) in Mass Communication at Adeleke University, Ede. PhD in view.

He is also the current National President, Mass Communication Alumni of OSPOLYIree (MAOS) and the National Publicity Secretary, OAPOLYIree Alumni Association (OSPAA).
