BREAKING: NAMACOS Reschedules Election To Friday As FICT Holds Today
The Department of Mass Communication (NAMACOS) election earlier scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed to Friday, October 17, 2025, to allow for proper preparation and to ensure a transparent and smooth electoral process.
The decision was announced today during a meeting held with the Dean of Students’ Affairs (DSA), Dr. Olutope Lawrence Abiola, and the Independent Student Electoral Committees (ISEC) from both NAMACOS and the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT), alongside the incumbent departmental presidents.
According to the DSA, while the FICT election will still be held as scheduled tomorrow, the NAMACOS election will now take place on Friday, October 17, 2025.
During his address, Dr. Abiola emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order, urging all aspirants to conduct themselves with maturity and discipline throughout the process.
"All aspirants must avoid fighting or chaos. Those who have opponents should work on their supporters and ensure everything goes well. If there’s any fight or disruption, I will hold them personally responsible,” the DSA stated.
He further advised the aspirants to view leadership as an opportunity to serve and leave behind a legacy of peace, transparency, and integrity.
The postponement, according to NEB correspondence, aims to give room for better coordination and uphold the credibility of the election process.
