‎The Management of Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY), Iree, has warned newly admitted students that failure to pay school fees will automatically deny them access to examinations, course registration, matriculation numbers, and other institutional services.

The warning was issued on Thursday during the second day of the institution’s orientation programme held at the PLT Building.

Speaking on behalf of the Bursar, the Chief Accountant, Elder Agboola Enoch Aderemi, stated that payment of school fees is compulsory for every student to be recognized as a bona fide member of the institution.

“Without payment of school fees, there will be no matriculation number, no course registration, no examination, and no access to results,” he said.

He explained that students can pay their fees online using their mobile phones, debit cards, or through accredited cyber cafés.

He added that students may pay in installments that is, half at the beginning of the session and the balance later, but warned against late payment.

According to him, the deadline for payment is March 2, and a penalty of ₦50,000 will be charged for late payment.

He further disclosed that the acceptance fee is ₦50,000, while replacement of lost documents costs ₦3,000.

School fees vary across departments, with non-science courses paying ₦125,000, while science, technical, and engineering students pay ₦127,500 for ND 1 and HND 1.

Also addressing the students, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Tope Abiola, cautioned freshers not to pay money to unauthorized individuals.

He warned that some people have been demanding “sport money” from new students, stressing that such payments are illegal.

“If anyone asks you for money apart from approved school fees, report immediately to the Student Affairs Division,” he advised.

The Director of Examinations, Dr. Olagunju, urged students to avoid examination malpractice. He warned that anyone caught would face the disciplinary panel but assured that due process and fairness would be observed.

The institution’s Counselor, Mrs. Titilayo, advised students to dress properly and avoid indecent dressing, noting that they represent their families and the institution.

Similarly, the Portal Manager, Comrade Olalekan Adeboye, reminded students to complete their medical tests and online registration, adding that examinations would be conducted through Computer-Based Tests (CBT).

He also encouraged eligible students to apply for the Federal Government’s NULFUND student loan scheme, explaining that applicants must have a valid NIN and admission letter. He added that students who came in through Daily Part-Time programmes must complete JAMB regularization.

On campus security, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Iree Division, CSP Rasak Faleke, advised students to stay focused on their studies and avoid criminal activities such as cultism, gangsterism, fraud, and prostitution.

He warned that cases of hostel break-ins and other crimes have been recorded in the past and urged students to remain vigilant about their movements within and outside the campus.

The DPO assured students that the police remain partners in progress and encouraged them to report suspicious activities promptly.

The orientation programme ended with strong warnings from management officials, emphasizing discipline, financial compliance, security consciousness, and academic focus as key to a successful stay in the institution.
