Crisis Brews in OSPOLY SUG as President Rejects NANS Appointment, SRC President Supports Appointment
By Samuel Akintola
A disagreement has emerged within the Students’ Union Government of Osun State Polytechnic ( ODPOLY ), Iree following the rejection of an appointment made under the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South-West Zone D.
The SUG President, Ajayi Kehinde Emmanuel, in a statement dated March 27, 2026, announced the rescission of the appointment of Ilori Stephen, describing it as unauthorized and not in line with established procedures.
According to the President, the appointment was made without the necessary review and final approval from his office, emphasizing that all appointments within the union must follow constitutional guidelines.
He stated that the appointment has been nullified with immediate effect and directed that the individual involved be formally notified, adding that future appointments must receive proper clearance before any announcement.
However, the decision has sparked division within the student leadership, as the Speaker of the Student Representative Council (SRC), Ogunsaki Samuel, accepted the appointment and congratulated him.
The issues have raised concerns over internal coordination and adherence to due process within the union, with observers noting that the differing positions may affect administrative unity.
Despite the disagreement, the SUG President reiterated the need to maintain structure and credibility within the union, stressing that due process must be followed in all official matters, no matter what.
The memo read partially:
"OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT STUDENTS’ UNION OSPOLY
TO: Students populace at Large
FROM: President, Students’ Union Government OSPOLY
DATE: March 27, 2026
SUBJECT: Rescission of Unauthorized Appointment
*RESCISSION OF UNAUTHORIZED APPOINTMENT FROM NANS SW ZONE D TO ILORI STEPHEN*
It has come to my attention that an appointment was recently extended to a student for a position within the Union administration without the necessary review or final approval from the Office of the President.
While I appreciate the initiative to fill roles and keep our operations moving, we must adhere to the established protocols outlined in our constitution. These procedures ensure that every appointee is properly vetted and that there is a unified vision across the executive branch.
Effective immediately, the following actions are to be taken:
• Nullification: The specific appointment in question is hereby rescinded and considered void.
• Communication: The individual involved must be formally notified that the appointment process was premature and has been put on hold.
• Procedural Compliance: Moving forward, all proposed appointments must be submitted to my office for formal clearance before any public or private announcement is made.
I value the hard work you are putting into this administration, but maintaining our organizational structure is essential for our success and credibility. Let’s ensure we are all on the same page as we continue to serve the student body.
In Solidarity,
SIGNED
THE EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT
STUDENTS' UNION GOVERNMENT OSUN STATE POLYTECHNIC, IREE SEN. COMR. AJAYI KEHINDE EMMANUEL (SIR KENNY)"
