The leadership crisis within the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology Students’ Association (FICTSA) at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has continued to escalate following fresh disagreements among top student officials over an alleged financial discrepancy involving association funds.

The controversy centers on claims raised by the FICTSA Treasurer, Babalakin Yusuf Olashile, who alleged a mismatch between an approved budget and a reported withdrawal from the association’s account. According to him, the Students Legislative Council (SLC) had approved a total expenditure of ₦1,287,000, while a bank alert reportedly indicated a withdrawal of ₦1,558,000, creating a difference of ₦271,000.

The Treasurer further claimed that attempts to seek clarification from relevant officers were unsuccessful, raising concerns among some stakeholders within the association.

However, the President of FICTSA, Omosanya Joseph, has strongly denied any involvement in or approval of such claims, describing the allegations as misleading and inaccurate.

He maintained that no financial request or proposal of such nature had been officially brought before his office for consideration.

He further emphasized that his role is strictly guided by due process, adding that he cannot authorize or validate any financial transaction without proper documentation and executive submission.

“My office isn’t just where I can give the go-ahead to any withdrawal without due process,” he said.

In a related development, the FICTSA President has also denied any wrongdoing, maintaining that the withdrawal process was properly approved by the Students' Legislative Council and followed constitutional procedures. He further stated that all relevant signatories were involved in the transaction process.

The President has also called for calm within the association, assuring students that the matter would be addressed through appropriate internal channels.

Meanwhile, tensions have continued to rise within the faculty following counter-claims and a petition calling for accountability, suspension demands, and the constitution of an investigative panel to review the financial records of the association.
