• JUST IN: FICTSA Treasurer Raises Concerns Over Alleged Discrepancy in ₦1.5m Withdrawal

    By Samuel Akintola

The Treasurer of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology Students’ Association (FICTSA), Babalakin Yusuf Olashile, has raised concerns over an alleged discrepancy in funds withdrawn from the association’s account.

In a closed interview after the release of the memo on April 29, 2026, the treasurer alleged that the amount withdrawn from the FICTSA account does not correspond with the total budget approved by the Students Legislative Council (SLC).

According to him, the total approved budget for various administrative expenses, including salaries, departmental projects, and executive offices, stands at ₦1,287,000.

However, he claimed that a debit alert from the microfinance bank showed a withdrawal of ₦1,558,000, creating a difference of ₦271,000.

The treasurer, who noted that he is a constitutional signatory to the account, stated that although he appended his signature to the withdrawal process, he was unable to access a detailed breakdown of the disbursed funds.

He further alleged that efforts to obtain clarification from the FICTSA President   Comrade Omosanya Damilola Joseph P.K.A Joshbright,  Financial Secretary Comrade Owoade Azeez, and the Faculty Speaker Sen. Obey Aduragbemu of the SRC have not yielded any response.

“The prolonged silence poses a serious challenge to transparency and accountability within the association,” he stated.

The treasurer Babalakin Yusuf Olashile, p.k.a Iconic Teewise has therefore called on the relevant officers to provide clarity on the matter.

    He demanded that:

"The SRC Speaker presents the exact total amount approved

The President and Financial Secretary provide an accurate report of funds withdrawn

The Auditor presents the statement of account within seven working days

He also gave a 48-hour deadline for initial responses from the concerned offices.

And called on all stakeholders. FICTSA should come out and intervene as all tenures require transparency."
