FROM POLY JUNCTION TO ALTER: OBISESAN MICHAEL TIES THE KNOT WITH CAMPUS LOVE

At Osun State Polytechnic, Iree (OSPOLY), there is a popular saying that many campus relationships end at "Poly Junction," the well-known commercial motorcycle park in Iree, Osun State. The phrase suggests that many couples who begin their love story on campus eventually part ways by the time they complete their ND or HND programmes.
To some extent, the popular saying reflects reality. Many relationships that begin in school do not survive beyond graduation. Heartbreak is real, and countless students have experienced it. However, not every campus love story ends that way.
One inspiring example is that OSPOLY alumnus and former Editor-in-Chief of the NAMACOS Editorial Board (NEB), Obisesan Michael, popularly known as (Kiss Michael). After years of courtship with a woman he met while they were both students, the couple recently sealed their love with marriage.
Their journey began in 2020 when they lived as neighbors in the same hostel. What started as friendship gradually blossomed into a lasting relationship that survived their academic years and continued long after graduation.
Frankly speaking, like every genuine relationship, theirs was not without challenges. They experienced misunderstandings, communication gaps, trust issues, and other obstacles that often threaten long-lasting relationships. Yet, instead of allowing those difficulties to separate them, they however chose patience, understanding, and commitment.
Speaking in an interview with the NAMACOS Editorial Board, Michael described their journey from campus friendship to marriage as one filled with live, patience, challenges, and unwavering commitment.
"I fell in love with her personality. She is very calm, respectful, and submissive. Those are unique qualities," Michael said while reflecting on how their relationship began.

Their story reminds us that while many relationships may not stand the test of time, some certainly do. It may not be easy to determine the exact percentage of relationships that succeed or fail, but one thing is clear: lasting relationships require effort, sacrifice, communication, and mutual respect.
For those currently in relationships, whether on campus or beyond, remember that disagreements and misunderstandings are inevitable. What truly matters is the willingness of both partners to communicate, forgive, and resolve conflicts maturely.
And if you have already walked away from a healthy relationship over a minor misunderstanding, perhaps it is worth having an honest conversation before giving up completely. At the same time, no one should remain in a toxic or abusive relationship. Love should never come at the expense of your peace, safety, or dignity. Relationships are not a do-or-die affair.
