    The Department of Mass Communication, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, on Tuesday honoured Dr. Philip Ewuola with a retirement send-off in recognition of his decades of dedicated service, mentorship and contributions to the institution.


    The ceremony, held at the Department of Photography Lecture Room, brought together the celebrant, his wife, daughter-in-law, the Head of Department, the Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT), members of staff, alumni, and student representatives across all levels.

    Speaking at the event, the Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Idowu Akinrosoye, described Dr. Ewuola as a father, mentor, leader, adviser and role model whose impact on the department would remain indelible.


    "It is one thing to retire, and it is another thing to remain useful after retirement," Akinrosoye said, adding that Dr. Ewuola distinguished himself through years of dedicated teaching, mentorship and selfless service to the department.


    Also speaking, the Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mr. Stephen Oladoye, who succeeded Dr. Ewuola, described the retired lecturer as a visionary administrator whose leadership laid a solid foundation for the faculty's continued growth.


    According to him, the faculty has continued to build on the legacy established by Dr. Ewuola, noting that many of its achievements were made possible by the structures he put in place.


    The Dean of Students' Affairs, Dr. Olutope Abiola, also paid tribute to the retired academic, recalling how Dr. Ewuola welcomed and encouraged him when he first joined the Department of Mass Communication despite reservations from some quarters.


    He said Dr. Ewuola later appointed him as the coordinator of the Weekend Part-Time Programme, a responsibility that contributed significantly to his professional development.


    Similarly, Dr. Sarafadeen Aderemi Adeagbo recounted how a phone call from Dr. Ewuola in 2008 changed the direction of his career after inviting him to become part of the institution.


    He described the retired lecturer as a mentor whose support and encouragement helped shape his academic journey.


    The National President of the Mass Communication Alumni of Osun State Polytechnic (MAOS), Comrade Adekunle Sikiru (Abacus), commended Dr. Ewuola for the enduring legacy he left behind.


    According to him, many of the achievements recorded by both the department and the alumni association today are products of the strong foundation established during Dr. Ewuola's years of service. He prayed for God's continued blessings, good health and fulfilment for the retired lecturer.


    The ceremony featured prayers, goodwill messages and tributes from colleagues, alumni and students, who described Dr. Ewuola as an exceptional teacher, administrator and mentor whose contributions will continue to inspire future generations.
