• BREAKING: Osun Declares August 20 Public Holiday for 2026 Isese Festival

    The Osun State Government has declared Thursday, August 20, 2026, a public holiday to enable traditional religion worshippers across the state to participate in activities marking the 2026 Isese Festival.


    The declaration was contained in a press release issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Osogbo, and signed by the Honourable Commissioner, AbdulRasheed Aderibigbe.


    According to the statement, the decision reflects the state government’s commitment to recognising and preserving the cultural heritage and traditional practices of the people of Osun, while promoting cultural awareness and unity.


    The government congratulated traditional religion worshippers on the celebration and wished them a peaceful and memorable festival.


    It, however, urged residents, particularly participants in the festival, to celebrate peacefully and responsibly while complying with existing laws and regulations.


    The government stressed the importance of maintaining peace, order and mutual respect throughout the festivities.


    The public holiday is expected to allow traditional worshippers across the state to participate fully in activities marking the annual Isese Festival.
