The Department of Mass Communication, Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY), Iree, has organised a Project Proposal Seminar for HND II students of Journalism and Strategic Communication and Media Studies to strengthen their research and project-writing skills ahead of graduation.

The seminar was organised following a deliberation among members of staff on the need to expose graduating students to proper research methodology and effective project proposal development.

The programme focused on helping students understand how to identify research problems, develop appropriate research objectives and adopt suitable methodologies for their final-year projects.

Speaking as the resource person, the Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT), Dr. Idowu Akinrosoye, emphasised the importance of research in academic institutions.

He described research as an essential component of academic development, innovation and problem-solving, urging the students to take their projects seriously and adhere to acceptable academic standards.

Also speaking, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Tope Abiola, commended the Department of Mass Communication for organising the seminar, describing it as a laudable initiative that would contribute to the students’ academic development.

He added that programmes of such nature demonstrate the commitment of the Polytechnic Management, under the leadership of the Rector, Comrade Kehinde Adeyemi Alabi, to improving the quality of education and preparing students for life beyond the institution.

The Head of Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Aderemi Adeagbo, reaffirmed the department’s commitment to improving the academic standard of its students through relevant training and practical exposure.

He stated that the department would continue to introduce initiatives capable of equipping students with the knowledge and skills required for successful careers and further academic pursuits after graduation.
