NAMACOS Editorial Board Ushers in New Leadership at Media Masterclass 2.0

The NAMACOS Editorial Board (NEB) on Monday, 7 September 2026, ushered in a new set of executives during its Handing-Over Ceremony and Media Masterclass 2.0, held at the New Lecture Hall 1 (NLH1), Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
The event, themed “The Future of Campus Journalism: Leadership, Innovation and Impact,” brought together students, lecturers, campus journalists, outgoing executives and members of the incoming Editorial Board to celebrate the achievements of the outgoing administration and prepare the new leadership for the task ahead.

The Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Aderemi Adeagbo, while addressing the gathering, emphasized the importance of commitment, academic integrity and responsible leadership. He urged students to prepare adequately for their forthcoming examinations and avoid examination malpractice at all costs.
Dr. Adeagbo also charged the incoming executives to build on the achievements of their predecessors and work closely with the School Management to promote the development of the Editorial Board.
“Be dedicated to this responsibility; it takes commitment and passion to succeed.” He said.
He further encouraged the new administration to maintain a cordial relationship with the School Management, noting that the Management is ready to embrace and support the new leadership.
The Guest speaker, Mr. Adewumi Temitope, Coordinator, Department of Mass Communication, delivered an engaging masterclass that focused on the realities of campus journalism and the evolving media industry.
He encouraged students to move beyond being passive observers and become active participants in journalism. He urged students interested in journalism to join the NAMACOS Editorial Team rather than remain onlookers while people without journalistic backgrounds take the lead.
Mr. Adewumi also advised students to broaden their knowledge, learn from established professionals in the media industry, and continuously develop their skills to remain relevant in the ever-changing media landscape.
The event later proceeded to the official handing-over ceremony, marking the transition from the outgoing Editorial Board to the new administration.
The outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Edm. Akintola Samuel, reflected on his tenure with appreciation, acknowledging the contributions of his executives, past leaders, parents and other individuals who supported the board throughout his administration.
While acknowledging the challenges encountered during his tenure, he encouraged the incoming executives to remain committed to truth, professionalism, teamwork, and responsible leadership. He urged them to build on the foundation laid by the outgoing administration and take the Editorial Board to greater heights.
The new administration is headed by Adeleke Jeremiah Segun as Editor-in-Chief, with Jegede Boluwatife as Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Ademola Ezekiel as Board Manager. Other members of the new executive include Oyekola Samuel as Broadcast Manager, Oyekan David as General Secretary, Alase Mariam as Advertising Manager, Alase Kudirat as Entertainment Reporter, Oseni Monsurat as News Reporter, Adeoye Mercy as Public Relations Officer, Adebisi Comfort as Yoruba/News Editor, Akinyemi Comfort as Junior Reporter, Idowu Opeyemi as Feature Editor, Adeniran Kosihat Bolanle as Financial Secretary, and Awoniyi Malik Adetunji as Sport Reporter/Photo Journalist.
The outgoing administration comprised Akintola Samuel as Editor-in-Chief, Ogungbemi Afeez Junior as Board Manager, Adeyemi Zainab Adéọlá as Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Oba Abosede Toyin as News Editor, Alade Kultum Omotolani as Feature Editor, Abdulsalam Fathia Eniola as Yoruba News Editor, Adedeji Deborah Iyanuoluwa as Senior Reporter, Adenaike Oyinkansola Boluwatife as Reporter 1, Abdulrafiu Yetunde as Reporter 2, Ajilore Christiana Ayobami as Advertising Manager, Onifade David Ademilola as Broadcast Manager, Babalakin Yussuf Olashile as Photo Journalist, Esan Rebecca Aanuoluwapo as Entertainment Reporter, Adeshina Abdulqudus as Sport Reporter, Aqib Barakat as General Secretary, Olaniyi Victor Joseph as Public Relations Officer, and Hamzat Idayat as Financial Secretary.
The handing-over ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for the NAMACOS Editorial Board as the incoming executives officially assumed their respective responsibilities.
Media Masterclass 2.0 was more than a leadership transition ceremony. It reaffirmed the commitment of the NAMACOS Editorial Board to nurturing young journalists, promoting responsible campus journalism, and equipping students with the skills and knowledge required to make a meaningful impact in the media industry beyond the walls of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
