BREAKING: MAOS Awards Two OSPOLY Masscomm Best Students

The Mass Communication Alumni Association of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree Chapter, has today awarded two outstanding students in ND2 and HND2 classes with a cash prize of #50,000.
The presentation took place during Freshers Orientation Programme organized by the National Association of Mass Communication Students (NAMACOS) at the New Lecture Hall (NLH 1) by the National President of MAOS, Adekunle Sikiru popularly known as Abacus.
Following are the names and CGPA of the two best-selected students in ND 2 and HND 2 for 2023/2024 session, who bagged the scholarship awards, as supplied by the management of the department; Adebayo Rasaq Kolawole with 3.33 (HND2) and Sobamowo Alice with 3.30 (ND2).

While speaking, Adekunle said “Late Feranmi Scholarship Award,” is named after the pioneer National General Secretary of MAOS, Adetoye Feranmi who died some years ago. He said “ This is one of our ways to give back to alma Mata and to encourage upcoming MAOSites."

He subsequently added that the scholarship has been in existence for the past 8 years and it is presented annually, noting that the award is to encourage outstanding students in Mass Communication department and to challenge others in the class.
Also, he explained that MAOS was established in 2011 by a group of graduates of Mass Communication department who invited other graduates to form the association.
He said “MAOS started with a chapter with few members but as of today, MAOS is now having chapters in Nigeria and Abroad. MAOS has 9 chapters which include Osun Chapter with 2 zones (Osogbo/Ilesa); Lagos Chapter; Ogun Chapter; Oyo Chapter; Ekiti Chapter; Ondo Chapter; Abuja Chapter; Kwara Chapter and in Diaspora (Canada, UK, USA, Dubai, Germany, etc).
In the same vein, he revealed that MAOS provides a link between Mass Communication department, institution, graduates and general public; promote mutual understanding and cooperation among students and generate fund for the maintenance and promotion of scholarship.
Furthermore, he highlighted the achievements of MAOS and its benefits which include: regular and annual scholarship award for students; books donations for Mass Communication library; a million naira generator for the department in 2021 to power studio; facilitation of OSPOLY Online Radio in 2021; rendering welfare services for members in need of financial assistance (health, education and traveling) and regular webinar programmes.
Also, providing job opportunities for graduates; connecting with various successful people through MAOS and expressing views on societal issues.
However, he therefore mentioned that National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates can apply for membership form at the rate of #2,000.
