JUST IN: Out-going NEB Executives Organizes Orientation Programme For New Executives, Preaches Unity

The Out-going Namacos Editorial Board (NEB) executives for the 2024/2025 session of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has held an orientation programme for the newly-selected executives, urging them to uphold the ethics of journalism and work together in peace, harmony, and unity.

The event took place on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Prelim Village (PLT 1) of the institution and was attended by immediate past executives who shared their experiences and advised with the incoming team.

Speaking at the programme, the outgoing Editor-in-Chief, EDM. Asiyanbi Abraham Blessing, advised the new leaders to always verify their facts before publishing and to avoid reporting any story they are unsure about.

"Don’t rush to publish, and don’t bend a story because of gifts or offers,” he warned, stressing that ethics is very essential in the practice of journalism and that external opinions must not override truth.

Former Public Relations Officer EDM Damola Abraham encouraged the executives to learn crisis management and maintain mutual understanding within the board. He reminded them that everyone is equal in NEB and that every member, regardless of position, is eligible to write and publish news.

Outgoing photojournalist EDM Omololu Ajayi also advised that news reporting should not be left to reporters alone, urging all executives to contribute.

In the same spirit, the immediate past Broadcast Manager, EDM. Iyiola Samuel, said the new team should balance their academic work with campus journalism and tutorials.

“This position is a call to service. Stay away from campus politics and focus on the mission of campus journalism,” he said.

The orientation ended with the new executives filling out and signing their oath forms, officially marking the start of their tenure.
