• JUST IN: FICT Dean, Dr Oladoye Meets Student Leaders Over Tuition Payment Concerns

    By Samuel Akintola

The Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT), Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY), Iree, Dr. S. F. Oladoye, on Thursday met with Faculty Executives, Departmental Executives, and Class Governors to address concerns surrounding tuition fee payments.

The Movement, led by the Faculty Students’ Association President, Comr. Omosanya Joseph Damilola (popularly known as JOSBRIGHT), honored the Dean’s invitation at his office.

The meeting focused on the low turnout of students in tuition payments, the impact of the sudden ₦10,000 additional charge, and the need for sensitization on early payment and registration procedures.

Addressing the student leaders, the Dean expressed concern over low payment compliance among freshers and returning students. While acknowledging current economic challenges, he urged executives to intensify awareness of the importance of early payment and the consequences of late registration.

In his response, Comr. Damilola identified the sudden ₦10,000 charge as a major factor discouraging students from making payments, describing it as a financial burden, especially as it was initially attributed to a “portal glitch.”

The Dean informed the delegation that management had reduced the additional charge from ₦10,000 to ₦5,000 and appealed to students to begin payments promptly to ensure a smooth academic calendar.

Dr. Oladoye reaffirmed his commitment to student welfare and support for policies that ease financial pressure on students.
