OSPOLY 8th Convocation: A Blend of Pidgin, English, and Pure Celebration
By DASO BOLUWAJI
The combined 8th convocation ceremony of Osun State Polytechnic Iree held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, was more than a formal academic gathering, it was a vibrant mix of celebration, culture, and youthful expression.
“Wonders shall never end,” some graduating students remarked, both physically and across social media, as they reacted to the colourful nature of the event. For many, the convocation was not just about certificates, but about moments, memories, and the atmosphere that came with it.
From the very start at the institution’s pavilion, the event carried a lively tone. Opening prayers were delivered by both Muslim and Christian clerics, setting a reflective mood before the ceremony quickly transitioned into a display of style and coordination.
Corps members, in particular, added flair to the occasion with their coordinated parade, moving with precision that drew attention from the crowd. Their polished appearance and confident steps turned what could have been a routine march into a spectacle, with some students humorously suggesting that a single misstep could have gone viral.
Representing the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, the Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, observed the proceedings with calm composure, contrasting the excitement that filled the venue.
Around the arena, photographers and pressmen—including members of the NAMACOS Editorial Board (NEB)—were fully engaged, capturing every moment. Cameras moved rapidly from one angle to another, with some photographers stretching their limits just to secure the perfect shot, turning the convocation ground into something close to a media stage.
Campus journalists were equally active, monitoring proceedings closely. With notebooks and devices in hand, they documented details of the event, reflecting the discipline and alertness required in the profession.
Beyond the official activities, the event also became a stage for fashion and social interaction. Guests appeared in elegant outfits, while students moved around—some searching for friends, others exploring the venue, and a few simply following the flow of the crowd.
Behind the scenes, members of the editorial team worked tirelessly, engaging key personalities and gathering insights, ensuring that every aspect of the event was properly covered.
As expected, the ceremony also featured moments of personal celebration, with graduands taking photographs in carefully planned poses—some bold, some creative, and others simply expressive of the joy of the day.
By the end of the ceremony, as the crowd gradually dispersed, one thing stood out clearly: the event was not just a convocation, but a carefully blended experience of academic achievement and social expression.
At Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, even the most formal occasions carry a touch of celebration.
